About Us

BeHumanKind is a joyous, colourful fashion brand with kindness at its core. Designing and producing accountable, environmentally conscious collections that are fun, bright and as colourful as a paintbox.

My Manifesto:
(please note this is a work-in-progress, subject to change and adapt as we grow and learn)

Kindness +

BeHumanKind will aim to give more than it takes; working together with knitters, embroiderers & talented sewers and sharing profits equally. I won't drive down prices or negotiate long payment terms so that people, planet and profit will come in precisely that order.

Hand Crafted +

BeHumanKind clothes and accessories are not only bright and cheerful but almost entirely handmade too. There will be a face, not a large factory; a talented artist who will have individually made your item.

Made To Order / Slow Fashion +

Most of BeHumanKind collections will only be made after you have placed your order. No mass production, no waste! Some items may take a few weeks to be made and dispatched. We recognise that quality, handmade, home spun and skilled work takes time.

Quality +

BeHumanKind will make sure that every item will be built to last and last.

Repair & Visible Mending +

Repairing and reusing the garments we already own are the first steps to our wardrobe having less impact on the planet. BeHumanKind offers a visible mending and repair service.

Environment & Climate +

I use certified Organic and Oeko-Tex fabrics and yarns, and FSC paper and wood. However I also believe that well built clothing from synthetic fabrics are not our enemy; buy better, buy less and make it last!

of Fast Fashion clothing will be discarded within 12 months of purchase. Less than 1% of material used to produce clothing is recycled into new clothing, meaning 99% of all textiles and fashion go to waste!

0

tonnes of used clothes are burned or buried in landfill each year. Even worse – loads of this incinerated clothing has never even been sold or worn. It’s retailers or manufacturers disposing of unsold stock in the most ‘cost-effective’ way possible.

0

By 2050, fast fashion will take up a quarter of the world’s carbon budget. When we’re none the wiser, we happily pay pennies for ‘bargains’ – and unwittingly let the costs to people and the planet mount to breaking point.
